APLF Dates advanced by two weeks to 14-16 March 2018

For the 2018 APLF events, the Organisers took the decision to bring the fairs advance by approximately two weeks to mid-March after the consultation on both exhibitors and buyers,The upcoming APLF Leather & Materials+, Fashion Access and Cashmere World will be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 14 – 16 March 2018.

Comparing with past trade fairs, the advanced dates will allow professional buyers to source the needed supplies, materials and components in order to manufacture new designs and place orders for their retail outlets on time for the delivery for Fall/Winter season later in the year. Taking place under the same roof and at the same time, the advanced dates offer distinctive benefits to both exhibitors and professional buyers who visit these leading events.

Leather and cashmere experience the same evolution in their processes in view of brands and customers’ demands for sustainability and traceability. Hence, there is mutual synergy not only between Cashmere World and Fashion Access in terms of complementary fashion accessories, but also between Cashmere World and APLF Leather & Materials+. With five months before the events, the Organisers are dealing with an increased demand for exhibition space, especially for the iconic APLF Leather & Materials+ fair.

APLF Materials+
Held on the third floor of the HKCEC on the same level as Fashion Access and Cashmere World, Materials+ enters its second year after its successful launch during APLF 2017. APLF Materials+ is the platform to source advanced functional materials and components for uses in fashion-forward footwear, bags, garments and fashion accessories, which caters either to the “fast-fashion” trend in the sports-leaning ready-to-wear markets or to the more high-end demands of the “bespoke” market.
With machinery and specialist components required for the products’ characteristics of a sports-lifestyle shift in developed economies, Materials+ had a highly successful launch edition with 8,500 visitors passing through the fair from 82 countries and regions. The Top Ten Visiting Countries to Materials+ were: China, India, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Italy, USA, Thailand, Australia and Indonesia.

In fact, many sourcing specialists from well-known brands were present in Materials+, including the following brands: Asos, Adidas, Armani, Burberry, Charles & Keith, Chloé, Clarks, Coach, Dr. Martens, FILA, Gucci, GAP, H&M, KENZO, Levis, Li & Fung, New Balance, TBS Group, TUMI, Under Armour, VF Corporation, Wolverine.With a fair like Materials+ targeting the sourcing and manufacturing requirements of the latest fashion trends, contacts and even contracts are just a step away at this new, dynamic event.

Fashion Access
In Fashion Access 2018, with the aim of making the fair more manageable for buyers so that they can make best use of their time, the Organisers have segmented the fair into 3 new zones: Brand Avenue, Design Street, Sourcing Zone

At Fashion Access 2017 there were almost 10,000 buyers passing through the fair and the combined figure with APLF Leather & Materials+ was 27,000. There will not only be ready-to-wear sourcing opportunities for retail and boutique buyers but also for OEM manufacturers waiting to produce collections to designers’ specifications.
The combination of Sourcing Zone from manufacturers plus the original designs that can be found in Design Street and Brand Avenue make Fashion Access a uniquely rounded event catering for every type of buyer.

On-Site Events
To complete the trade element of these four international fairs, the APLF Organisers have integrated them with a comprehensive schedule of conferences and seminars of topical interest for the professionals present at the events. The final programme is still being worked on but there will be the Sustainability in the Leather Supply Chain as usual, and the Global Footwear Retail Conference will enhance its scope to include topics on footwear materials, together with Trends Spaces for each fair and workshop. These educational and informative fringe events make APLF a complete, integrated event, providing design, sourcing and manufacturing professionals new interests and practical uses.
